On June 5, the signing ceremony of the 6GWh sodium-ion and lithium-ion battery and system production base project of Jiangsu HIGHSTAR Power Co., Ltd. was successfully held in Fushan Industrial Park. The project is located in Doumen Fushan Industrial Park, covering an area of 129 acres, with a planned total investment of approximately RMB 1 billion. A new 6GWh sodium-ion and lithium-ion battery and system production base will be built to create an integrated research, production and sales production base for sodium-ion batteries in Doumen District. After full construction and production, the annual output value is expected to be 4 billion yuan, the annual tax payment is expected to be 100 million yuan, and it is expected to provide at least 1,000 jobs.

In his speech, HIGHSTAR General Manager Chen Gang said that HIGHSTAR has been specialized in the research and development and production of secondary batteries for nearly 30 years. As one of the earliest domestic companies to realize the industrialization of lithium battery technology, it has complete new energy battery research and development and manufacturing capabilities in the fields of power and energy storage batteries. It is a mainstream lithium-ion battery manufacturer and ranks among the top three domestic companies in the global power tool market. Since August 2022, when Pulite reorganized HIGHSTAR, it has completed the industrial layout of new energy, quickly entered high-quality industry tracks such as energy storage and small power batteries, and gathered the three major advantages of "capital, assets, and resources" to form an industrial pattern driven by "new materials + new energy". This has important strategic significance and major industrial synergy for the cooperation parties. This project aims at sodium-ion batteries for technological leadership and innovation, and will be built into Zhuhai's first sodium-ion energy storage battery industrialization project.

At present, the industrialization of sodium-ion batteries is accelerating, and the future market space is broad. Sodium-ion batteries have the advantages of rich resources, low cost, better rate performance, and resistance to low and high temperatures. They are completely unrestricted by resources and regions, and can perfectly solve the problem of "stuck neck" resources. They can be well applied in large-scale energy storage and frequency modulation and new energy vehicles.

Zhuhai has abundant upstream and downstream supporting resources for lithium batteries, a complete energy storage industry application system and complete talent. Zhuhai is building a new energy track driven by "resources + technology" and an advanced manufacturing industry reform supported by the new energy industry. It will continue to enhance HIGHSTAR's market development in new power systems, industrial and commercial, and household energy storage, as well as data center energy, communication site energy, and smart photovoltaics.
